Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) released the following statement after language he authored was included in the final draft of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act. His language designates that multiphase projects, such as the Port of Corpus Christi, receive higher priority for funding than “new start” projects. Passage by both the House and Senate are expected this week.

“I’m glad to see my language included in the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act,” said Congressman Farenthold. “Critical infrastructure projects like the Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project (CIP) have been delayed due to funding going to other projects. This bill will increase the priority of our port improvements by classifying them as a continuation of an ongoing project rather than a ‘new start.’ It’s time to move forward with the completion of CIP and this bill will help to get this done.”
