Congressman Farenthold’s Statement on the Waters of the United States Rule
WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-TX) released the following statement following the Obama administration’s rule today to overregulate water rights after the Senate refused to take up the House bill on the matter.
“The Administration’s WOTUS rule is nothing more than another power grab by the current White House administration,” said Congressman Farenthold. “The Federal Government has no right taking control from farmers and landowners. Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed bipartisan legislation preventing this rule as well as stripping all funding for the WOTUS rule through the House appropriations process. This proposed rule clearly undermines the rulemaking process and many long standing federal-state partnerships. Had the Senate bothered to consider this legislation, farmers would not be facing this type of over reach today.”
