Touring the Progress of Hurricane Harvey Recovery
On Wednesday, I joined community leaders, residents, and business owners on the "Windshield Bus Tour" through the Rockport-Fulton area. During this tour, I saw the significant recovery that's taken place throughout some of the areas hit hardest by Hurricane Harvey. On the tour, local leaders announced that 22 homes will be built by Habitat for Humanity. I am encouraged by the progress made during the last five months as our communities rebuild, but we have a long way to go.

I am working hard to make sure our communities and residents receive the help they need. If you are having problems with federal disaster relief, give my Red Tape Cutters a call at 361-884-2222.

Ending the Government Shutdown
Last week, Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer, unnecessarily shut down the government. On Monday night, after a three day government shutdown, the House and Senate passed legislation to reopen the government for two more weeks and extend the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for six years. President Trump quickly signed this continuing resolution into law. I will continue working with my colleagues in the House to come up with a longterm budget.

Discussing the Future of the Music Industry
On Friday, I went to New York City along with some of my colleagues from the House Judiciary Committee where we held a field hearing on the music industry, titled "Music Policy Issues: A Perspective from Those Who Make It." At this hearing, we discussed the AMP Act, the Fair Play Fair Pay Act, the CLASSICS ACT, and the Music Modernization Act. This legislation will modernize the federal rate setting mechanisms for the music industry. To hear the questions I asked during this hearing, click here.

Congratulations to @CCADPAO on producing its 1000th T-55 engine!
