Congressman Farenthold Appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Interior, Energy and Environment
Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) released the following statement today after being appointed Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Interior,
“I want every American to be able to enjoy our natural resources, whether it’s through lower gasoline and electric prices, more jobs as a result of using what we have in this great country, or having more access to and a better experience at our national parks,” Congressman Farenthold said. “I want an EPA that works with Americans, like it did during the water crisis in Corpus Christi, to keep our environment clean rather than being an adversary to progress.”
Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Congressman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah):
“I’m excited to have Blake leading the way on the Interior Subcommittee. He has a track record of success and I look forward to partnering with him to enact bold reforms within the federal government.”
Congressman Farenthold’s goals on the Subcommittee over the next two years include reinvigorating the domestic energy industry; bringing down the cost of energy at home and at the pump; and developing a better working partnership with the EPA. Congressman Farenthold would like to change the relationship with the EPA away from the punitive and adversarial relationship that currently exists to one that works together to create good jobs and protect the environment.
Congressman Farenthold was also named the Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform, Commercial and Antitrust Law on the Judiciary Committee.
“I look forward to focusing on reforming government, reducing excessive regulations and saving money by reducing waste and abuse in government.” Congressman Farenthold said. “We need to protect free markets and allow every American to live a life they love and to achieve their dreams with minimal government interference.”
