Congressman Farenthold Hosts 18 Town Halls Throughout 27th District
Congressman Blake Farenthold (R-TX-27) hosted 18 town halls this week in the 27th District of Texas. Farenthold spoke to members of the community on a variety of topics that residents were most concerned about.
On a national and international level, those topics included the Speaker of the House election, border security, the President’s deal with Iran, and the Syrian refugee agreement. On a local level, Congressman Farenthold discussed the Pilot’s Bill of Rights, veteran issues, transportation, the EPA’s overreaching tactics, and social security.
“The speaker election was the dominant topic at the town halls. I am focused more on what we are looking for in speaker rather than who we are looking for,” Congressman Farenthold said. “When I think of the characteristics I want in a new leader, the first item that comes to mind is a solid conservative. I am looking for someone who is a good communicator and a good negotiator. I want someone who fights for the things you the people asked for and doesn’t give in just because of a Presidential veto threat.”
Congressman Farenthold said that while he is leaning toward any of the three Texans who have announced they are running, he wants to see who all the candidates are before making a final decision.
