|Rep. Farenthold Disappointed in Court’s Misguided Decision|

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) had the following comments after the Supreme Court upheld most portions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, in NFIB v. Sebelius:
“The Supreme Court’s decision will have devastating effect on our economy, small business owners, and the American taxpayer. After repeated assurances by the Administration that this was not a tax, the American public is left with yet another empty promise from their President,” said Congressman Farenthold.
“The Constitution sets limits on the powers of the federal government. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court has greatly broadened the definition of a tax. The decision gives the legislature virtually unlimited taxing power, Americans should hold on to their wallets and be wary of how the government will use this new found power. I believe a vast majority of Americans disagree with this decision, which is why I have voted, and will continue to vote, to repeal this bad law. In November, Americans will have the opportunity to express their objections at their voting machine.”
